Decoration

Printing and Labelling

Different decoration processes are available depending on the product. Cups and lids can be decorated by direct printing or labelled after forming.

Direct Printing on Cups and Lids

Round containers can be decorated in up to eight colours. In this indirect letterpress process, the ink is transferred from a raised printing plate to a compressible rubber blanket and only then onto the surface of the container.

This intermediate step allows ink to be applied even to round, tapered containers. The process supports screened images of up to 40 lines and can be run at very high speeds, making it an economical standard decoration process.

A further advantage is material efficiency: Unlike offline labelling, sleeves or cardboard wraps, no additional sheet-like foreign materials are required for decoration. Apart from the printing inks, the container remains essentially mono-material. This facilitates material recycling and supports a high level of packaging recyclability.

We usually print lids in 1–2 colours and, depending on the design, in up to 6 colours.

Labels can be applied to the front, back or bottom. Lids can also be labelled with a round label in the recessed centre panel.
